With an array of newcomers upping the ante for the quality of air travel, Japan Airlines is keeping up with the competition with its new JAL SKY SUITE 777.
After introducing its four redesigned classes earlier this year, Japan Airlines is set to complete modifications on all thirteen of its 777-300ER jets by 2014. The new classes on these aircraft are constructed to evoke a feeling of “one class higher.”
The eight First Class seats feature wood-grain interior, 23-inch LCD monitors, PC power sockets, retractable privacy partitions and Tempur bedding in wider beds. Business Class offers unobstructed aisle access with 49 lie-flat seats in a 2-3-2 formation, storage, privacy partitions and more legroom. Premium Economy, which consists of 40 seats, comes with 12.1-inch touch screens, spacious tray tables, three-step adjustable foot rests and reclining seats with increased seat pitch (the distance between the back of one seat and the back of the seat in front). Even its Economy class got an upgrade, with the installation of the new JAL SKY WIDER seats, providing 2 cm more space between armrests, up to 10 cm more legroom thanks to slimmer seats and 10.6-inch touch-panel monitors.
Japan Airlines is also revamping its 199-seat 767-300ER jets, renamed JAL SKY SUITE 767. The redesigned Business (24 seats) and Economy (175 seats) classes will be introduced on flights between Tokyo and Vancouver beginning December 9, 2013, and between Tokyo and Kuala Lumpur in January 2014. The airline also plans to expand to long-haul Southeast Asia and Honolulu routes next year.
