The ribbon-cutting ceremony at the La Brea Bakery Café

25th Anniversary Grand Opening Ceremony by Alain Gayot It was a big deal when the original La Brea Bakery Café opened twenty-five years ago at Campanile Restaurant (now République). La Brea Bakery became a very BIG deal over the years with worldwide distribution of their tasty bread and other bakery products. The new, warm and inviting café designed by Stephen Francis Jones has set up camp where Rita Flora had been at the corner of La Brea and 6th Street, a block away from its original location. CEO John Yamin joined founder Nancy Silverton (Pizzeria Mozza, Osteria Mozza, chi SPACCA) to receive a proclamation on behalf of Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti presented by Councilmember Tom LaBonge. Los Angeles City Council President Herb Wesson chimed in with a large pair of scissors to officially cut the ribbon and declare the new La Brea Bakery Café open. All were happy to be back on La Brea and welcome a few VIPs, press and faithful patrons. Read La Brea Bakery Café GAYOT’s review for restaurant details.
