The 2nd Annual Mutineer Magazine Red Carpet Tasting at the Falcon Hollywood

by Alexandra Rowinski

On Sunday, May 23, Mutineer magazine threw their second annual Red Carpet Tasting. The party took place at Falcon Hollywood on Sunset Boulevard, where a packed house of imbibers sampled a myriad of exotic, delightful and delicious beverages. And with a special guest appearance from Jonathan Goldsmith, the famous Dos Equis icon who everyone knows as, “The Most Interesting Man in the World,” how could it not be a great party?

Hosted by Mutineer editor-in-chief Alan Kropf and actor/comedian Ben Morrison, the event celebrated the one-year anniversary of the magazine’s launch, while raising money for the global water relief organization, A Child’s Right.

Wine, beer and liquor merchants lined the interior and back patio of the restaurant, displaying their latest product ventures and generously pouring tastes for the crowds. Ortega 120, one of GAYOT.com’s Top Ten Mexican Restaurants in Los Angeles, made an appearance, offering tasty Caipirinhas mixed with their one-of-a-kind 120 Citrus Sour Mix.

While Two Oceans winery and popular breweries like Stone, Chimay and Lost Coast all brought their Sunday best to the party, it was the exotic liqueurs that my taste buds bounded for. Combier Rouge provided a fine cherry liqueur crafted from handpicked morellos, while Luxardo poured a spicy saffron-tasting spirit called Amaro Abano. The ginger, kaffir lime and hibiscus infused Hum Liqueur might very well have stolen my glass for the night, if it weren’t for the smooth Amarula Cream produced from a rare fruit found in South Africa.

As the drinks continued to flow, guests had a chance to view Mutineer’s artwork on display, get their photo snapped by the magazine’s director of photography, Ian Andreae, and even play a few games of Pac-Man on a classic arcade machine before stumbling out the door to sleep everything off for Monday morning.
