Maine Restaurant Week is currently offering great deals for New England foodies and visitors until March 12. More than 80 restaurants have created three-course prix-fixe menus ($20-$40 per person), and various cook-offs, book signings, free giveaways will spice up this year’s festivities. Some places are offering multi-course lunches, and you can save money while enjoying dinner at Anneke Jans in Kittery, Bar Lola in Portland, Natalie’s in Camden, and Solo Bistro in Bath.
This Thursday, March 3, from 7-9:30pm, Gabrielle Hamilton, award-winning chef and owner of NYC‘s Prune Restaurant, will give a short reading of her first book, Blood, Bones & Butter: The Inadvertent Education of a Reluctant Chef at Grace. This event includes a book signing and a roast lamb dinner inspired by Hamilton’s book. All-inclusive tickets are $120 per person; reservations can be made by calling the restaurant at 207-828-4422.
The next morning, vote for your favorite at the 2011 Incredible Breakfast Cook-off at the Sea Dog Brewing Co. (125 Western Ave, South Portland). Farmer’s Table, Bintliff’s American Café and Sea Glass will compete alongside other top restaurants to become Maine’s “Champion of Breakfast.” Tickets are $15 per person, $27 per pair and can be reserved here.
Check out the sixth annual 2011 Slow Food Writers Night at SPACE Gallery (538 Congress St.) on March 10 from 6:30-9:30pm. We just went to Portland a couple weekends ago for our anniversary and a place for foodies is right! We at the Farmer’s Table for brunch and it was awesome! The sweet potato hash was delish! We also went to Cinque Terre for dinner and Street & Co for dessert and wine… both amazing places worth checking out if ever in Portland, Maine!
