Seattle’s Pan Pacific Hotel First on West Coast to Achieve Green Globe Certification Surrounded by the Cascade Mountains, San Juan Islands and Olympia National Forest, Seattle has long been a city of residents known for their love of nature. This passion is now reflected at the Pan Pacific Hotel Seattle, which has become the first hotel on the West Coast to achieve Green Globe certification. This certification is based on 41 individual sustainability criteria determined by individual accredited auditors. According to Pan Pacific general manager Sam Johnson, “This achievement would not be possible without our team members’ ongoing commitment to our PanEarth program and its guiding principles of caring for our guests, community and planet.” The PanEarth sustainability program encourages guests to support a carbon-neutral stay and to minimize their environmental footprint. For example, guests can purchase a credit for the generation of clean wind energy; all such donations toward renewable energy credits are matched by the hotel, and in addition, ten per cent of the total proceeds goes to Food Lifeline, a local non-profit organization for hunger relief. Conservation efforts also include biodegradable key cards, front desk staff uniforms made of recycled bottles, options for carbon-neutral meetings and events, staff-wide community volunteer days and local day tours in luxury bio-fuel vehicles to nearby attractions such as the Woodinville wine country and Mt. Rainier National Park.           Related Content: Pan Pacific Hotel Seattle review Seattle 72-hour vacation guide Seattle business travel guide Pan Pacific Hotel Seattle website More Travel News You can click on each photo to enlarge.
