Prunotto 2008 Barolo DOCG – Wine of the Week Review

By admin
Prunotto 2008 Barolo DOCG Price: $55 Rating: 15/20 Region: Piedmont, Italy Varietal: 100 percent Nebbiolo Production: 1,000 cases Alcohol: 13.5 percent Tasting Notes: “Ai Vini delle Langhe” (“Of the wines of Langhe”) was founded as a cooperative winery in 1904. When it fell on hard times in the 1920s, Alfredo Prunotto took over the winery and renamed it after himself. Since 1989, the Marchesi Antinori family has collaborated with Prunotto to expand distribution and purchase additional vineyards. Delightfully rustic, the 2008 Barolo DOCG was primarily aged for twelve months in new French oak, as well as an additional twelve months in the bottle. Exhibiting intense violet aromas on the nose, it reveals ripe blueberry, fig and plum flavors in the mouth. Supple tannins and a bright acidity give the wine a balanced mouthfeel. Food Pairings: Rack of lamb, grilled beef, black truffles, aged cheeses For more information, visit Prunotto Cellars’ official website Other Nebbiolos we have tasted Related Content: Wine and Food Pairing Wine of the Week Reviews New Releases
