Tasting Notes: Made along northern Portugal’s once again popular Douro River region, this complex wine is grown in the oldest D.O.C. in the world. It was created from low yielding vines using sustainable practices in a stunningly terraced setting. The 2009 Reserva has strong flavors and should only get better with age, letting off aromas of dark chocolate and blackberry. This bold vintage has elegant notes of fruit and subdued oak, and shows a good balance of tannins and acidity.
Food Pairings: Pork chops, Francesinha, fig and Gorgonzola pizza
