By Yaira Solis Escudero   The third annual Saborea Puerto Rico: A Culinary Extravaganza!, the creative food event, was just held at the famous beach Punta del Escambrón in the The Millenium Park in Old San Juan.   Besides having a good time and eating well, the purpose of Saborea is featuring Puerto Rico as an unparalleled culinary destination throughout the Caribbean. The island tourism has been strengthened by the notable growth and development of the gastronomic sector. The event also served to present the new generation of Puerto Rican chefs.     28 recognized local chefs participated in the 2010 edition, who demonstrated their best interpretations of Puerto Rican and global contemporary cuisine at the ALO Demo Kitchen Theater 2010. They were accompanied by a dozen invited colleagues from the United States and Europe, including Food Network TV personalities such as Robert Irvine, host of “Dinner: Impossible”; Claire Robinson from “The 5 Ingredients Fix”; Daisy Martínez of “Viva Daisy!” and Anne Burrell, host of “Secrets of a Restaurant Chef.”   The impressive chef showcase also featured popular American chef/restaurateurs as Brad Farmerie of New York City’s Public; Eric Greenspan of L.A.’s The Foundry; Keegan Gerhar, owner of D-Bar Desserts in Denver, Colorado; Héctor Santiago from Pura Vida restaurant, Atlanta, Georgia; Jacques Torres, owner of four New York chocolateries; and Máximo Tejada, chef and owner of New York City’s Rayuela and Macondo restaurants. The final invitee was a “Top Chef” of Spain, Juan Andrés R. Morilla, who presented an apple dessert with molecular products and virgin olive oil.   The event—sponsored by Puerto Rico Tourism Company and its executive director Jaime López—also featured 60 distributors and restaurants offering menu samples at the Saborea Restaurant Pavilion. Food and dessert tastings, a variety of spirits, and the Saborea Kids Pavilion completed the offerings of Saborea Village this year.   The 8th Saborea Puerto Rico: A Culinary Extravagance is taking place this year from Thursday April 9 to Sunday April 12, 2015.
