A Splash of Color Lands in Palm Springs
The February 1 opening of Saguaro Palm Springs, the second hotel in the collection of Saguaro hotels by Joie de Vivre, brought 249 colorful and vibrant guest rooms and suites to Coachella Valley, at the site of the former Holiday Inn Palm Springs City Center. Described as a bold Southwestern palette, the color scheme was created by renowned architects Peter Stamberg and Paul Aferiat of New York-based Stamberg and Aferiat Architecture and was inspired by the tones found in desert wildflowers. The three-story boutique hotel is Joie de Vivre’s first Palm Springs property and boasts two small plates dining venues from James Beard award-winning Iron Chef Jose Carces – El Jefe and Tinto – and an expansive pool situated within a courtyard. With either city, mountain or pool views, each guest room and suite comes with a 42-inch flat-screen HDTV, work desk and stereo with iPod docking station. Also on-site are a full-service spa and outdoor pool with cabanas and a fire pit.
