As 2013 has ended, aren’t you looking forward to know where to dine in 2014?

We have a few things that can help.

Listen to my latest interview on chef Jamie Gwen’s radio show, which is now syndicated throughout America, where we discussed (listen to show here):
– chef Michel Richard’s new restaurant in New York, Villard at The New York Palace;
chef Jeff Mahin’s new additions to the Chicago scene, Summer House Santa Monica and Stella Barra Pizzeria;
Michael Mina’s PUB 1842 at the MGM Grand Hotel & Casino, and Sam Marvin’s Echo & Rig Butcher and Steakhouse in Las Vegas;
– then we went to Paris to talk about the major renovation going on at the Dorchester Collection’s Hôtel Plaza Athénée, and chef Eric Frechon‘s new gourmet bistro Lazare;
– we finished the journey in Los Angeles at Hakkasan, the new Chinese restaurant in Beverly Hills, and chef Steven Fretz’s The Church Key in West Hollywood, which is already so popular, it’s hard to get a table.

Thanksgiving is a tradition that started in 1621. As it is “a day off of work on the fourth Thursday of the month of November,” it is not easy to find restaurants that are open.

We have compiled lists of restaurants in your area so you don’t have to make numerous phone calls to find where to dine out that evening. Listen to my radio interview that aired Monday on KNX1070 News Radio on Frank Mottek’s Business Hour to find which ones you can head to in Los Angeles. For the rest of the country, consult the Best Thanksgiving Restaurants Near You and the Top 10 Thanksgiving Restaurants in the U.S.

Radio Host Joel Riddell at the Spring Mountain Vineyard with Sophie Gayot

by Sophie Gayot

After discussing the Southern California Winners of GAYOT 2013 Restaurant Issue with chef Jamie Gwen on her radio show, I got to do the same with Joel Riddell for the northern part of the Golden State.

I was lucky to meet the energetic Riddell during the S.Pellegrino Almost Famous Chef competition in Napa Valley where I was a judge. Every Saturday from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., Riddell, who is based in San Francisco, discusses his culinary, wine and travel findings on Talk 910 AM KKSF during his show Dining Around.

After we spoke about GAYOT.com and what I like to eat, Riddell got our insights on the Northern California restaurants that won a place in the GAYOT 2013 Restaurant Issue. They include restaurants from chef Thomas Keller, the recipient of the title “Best Restaurateur in the U.S.

Screw caps or corks?

by Sophie Gayot

Back in June, I had the pleasure of being a guest on David Wilson’s radio show, Grape Encounters Radio. Wilson’s show is all about wine and the love of it, but he insists he wants it to be fun. A long-time wine enthusiast, his main objective is to tell you how to get the most from your drinking experience. You will not hear him discussing tasting notes, but rather guidance on finding some non-traditional uses for wine, like pairing wine with music.

After a very kind introduction about GAYOT.com, which Wilson called “a website that has enough material to keep you busy for the rest of your life,” we discussed the somewhat controversial topic of cork versus screw cap.
