Flavors For Every Season
If life is really like a box of chocolates, then make sure your life is like a box of these. Truffle Truffle owner and operator Nicole Greene constantly experiments with new flavors — or at least new combinations of flavors. The aim is to achieve a balance between the familiar and the novel with an ever-changing range of seasonal flavors. Currently on offer are special ranges for Valentine's Day and the Super Bowl. Valentine's Day ranges include the Hot & Spicy Collection and the Culinary Couples Collection. The latter includes truffle flavors that pair everyday food and drink combinations like coffee and doughnuts; cookies and milk; and beer and pretzels.
In complete contrast, the Hot & Spicy Collection confirms that opposites do attract, by pairing spices from around the globe with the sweetness of white, milk and dark chocolates. These bizarre-sounding truffle flavors include wasabi (with white chocolate), curry (with dark chocolate) and pepper — a blend of ancho, chipotle and cayenne peppers (with milk chocolate). But don't be put off; these flavors are surprisingly delicious. Greene may experiment incessantly, but that doesn't mean she compromises good taste in the name of novelty.
If the flavors of the Hot & Spicy Collection are too challenging for your tastebuds, then try more traditional truffle flavors like espresso, champagne and hazelnut praline. But if you want to extend your taste range, try earl grey, strawberry balsamic and lavender truffles. A similar breadth of range is evident among the caramels. Try mole, thai peanut, maple and bacon, turkish coffee and bourbon pecan. Truffle Truffle's line of s'mores combines classic milkshake flavors like root beer float and mocha or garden flavors like orange tarragon and strawberry basil.
Truffle Truffle chocolates and confections can be ordered online or purchased at ten shops in the Chicago area and one in Columbus, Ohio. All items are handmade and hand-wrapped, made from scratch and to order, without chemical additives and preservatives.
