Blue Badge Guide giving tour of Olympic Stadium in London
Blue Badge Guide giving tour of Olympic Stadium in London

As London feverishly prepares for the upcoming summer Olympics less than two years away, visitors can take an inside look at the city's preparation. Take a tour of 2012 venues with the Blue Badge Guides, professionally trained tour guides that can accommodate more than 26 languages and have undertaken specialist courses covering all current and historical aspects of the Olympics and Paralympics.

The Olympic walks take guests along the Lower River Lee Valley and through the Olympic Park, from which you can see construction on the Olympic stadium site and other sporting venues. Guides will teach visitors all about the planning and development plans, how London's 2005 bid for the games was won, and the legacy that the games will leave on the industrial area of East London. The route is approximately 1.5 to 2 miles long on flat terrain and lasts around two hours total. Scheduled tours happen rain or shine, and weather-appropriate clothing and comfortable shoes are highly recommended.

When: Year-round starting at 11 a.m. daily

Where: Route begins at Bromley-by-Bow, St. Leonards St., London

Admission: Prices vary. Contact tour office for details.
