December 6
Food and wine writer and author Fiona Beckett will be collaborating with Middle Eastern restaurant favorite Honey & Co. in a series of pop-up wine classes with a difference. They'll be directed at a very specific audience: people who are passionate about food but nervous about wine. Classes will include a tasting of six different wines with nibbles from the restaurant, followed by a main course and dessert over lunch, with further wine. The class and lunch, with wine included, is £75. Payment must be made in advance by giving credit card details to Honey & Co. by phone or visiting the restaurant. Honey & Co., 25A Warren St., London W1T 5LZ, 020-738 86175.

Instead of wine, make it a whisky tasting. Albannach has a 200-strong list, and offers regular whisky tastings. Get the lowdown on how whiskies are made, and how each individual flavor and characteristic sets it apart from its rivals at their three master classes, each focusing on a different flight of malts. Classes start at flight one, an introduction at £30 per person; flight two explores various regions and different wood finishes (£35 per person); flight three takes you to the smokey, strong tastes of Islay (£40 per person). They're held on the first three Tuesdays of the month from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. For more information, visit Albannach, 66 Trafalgar Sq., London WC2, 020-7930 0066.
