BIKING THE GOLDEN COAST
Amgen Tour of California

Amgen Tour of California

Only in its second year, the annual Amgen Tour of California race has been highly touted as one of the best bicycle races in the world, stretching 700 miles through the Golden State. Over the course of a week, professional bicyclists will complete the race in a series of seven stages, starting in Palo Alto and ending in Pasadena. This year's featured cities also include Santa Rosa, Sacramento, San Jose, San Luis Obispo, Solvang and Santa Clarita.

Each finishing city will also host the Health Net Lifestyle Festival at the end of each stage's finish line. Race fans are encouraged to attend the festival, which will feature a health and fitness expo, cancer awareness education, cycling gear, family activities, bike safety lessons, food and entertainment. Volunteers are also needed to assist with each stage of the race; registration is available online. Tour of California runs in partnership with Amgen's Breakaway from Cancer initiative, which raises funds and awareness for non-profit cancer organizations in America.

Where: Palo Alto to Pasadena, Calif.
