H&M High Line Festival

H&M High Line Festival

The High Line that runs through Manhattan's West Side would have been demolished in 1999 had the non-profit group Friends of High Line been formed to preserve this historic structure. Now in honor of their efforts, mega-clothing store H&M has sponsored the first annual High Line Festival, a ten-day extravaganza of music, comedy, visual art and performances. This year's event will be curated by David Bowie, who has invited his favorite artists to perform.

Artists include a diverse myriad of performances by Arcade Fire, Daniel Johnston, Deerhoof, Laurie McLeod, Spanish Film Retrospective, The Polyphonic Spree and many more. A portion of each ticket sale with go to benefit Friends of the High Line, which is currently working with the city to transform the 1930s rail structure into a park. Please note that performances will take place in venues around the High Line, not in the park itself.

When: May 9-19. Please visit the website for more specific performance dates.

Where: Various venues around the High Line.

Admission: Varies with performance.
