This year's 45th annual New York Film Festival, presented by the Film Society of Lincoln Center, features a highly selective showcase of unique works by both emerging talent and recognized artists. The festival opens on Sept. 28 with a new film by acclaimed director Wes Anderson called The Darjeeling Limited, featuring Owen Wilson, Adrien Brody, Jason Schwartzman and Anjelica Huston. On Oct. 6, Joel and Ethan Coen's No Country for Old Men, starring Tommy Lee Jones and Woody Harrelson, will be honored as the festival's Centerpiece. Remaining film titles will be released in August.
This year's festival will also honor sidebar director and screenwriter Joaquim Pedro de Andrade, a renowned member of Brazil's Cinema Novo movement of the 1950s and '60s. The Film Society will also honor New Line Cinema for 40 years of filmmaking with a black-tie gala featuring a sneak peek of the highly anticipated winter release of The Golden Compass, starring Nicole Kidman and Daniel Craig, and directed by Chris Weitz.
