Five-Spice Grilled Chicken - Recipe
Five-spice adds an insane amount of flavor for just one simple ingredient. And when it's combined with soy, brown sugar and the lowly chicken thigh, something magical happens. What, too dramatic?
1/3 cup brown sugar
tablespoon five-spice seasoning
1 cup low-sodium soy sauce
3 pounds boneless, skinless chicken thighs, trimmed of extra fat
1 bunch green onions diced very fine
Combine the brown sugar and five-spice in a bowl, then stir in the soy and mix really well.
Add the chicken and mix really, really well so it's all well covered.
Cover and marinate for at least a half hour, or up to overnight in the refrigerator.
If the chicken was refrigerated, remove it from the fridge 30 minutes before you plan to cook. Preheat the grill to high.
Cook the chicken on the grill until done, but not too long or it will dry out — 5 to 6 minutes a side.
Remove the chicken from the grill, top with the green onion confetti and enjoy.
