The Holiday
Fantasy
Let's
Come Together and IndulgeIn Moderation
Religion
is important to many people. We have all experienced it to
some degree and we are for the most part the result of these
high-level traditions. It has made the world go round, created
law and order and, while regrettably, it has also spun battles
and wars, we must be thankful for all the glorious edifices
that riddle our planet, for the educational values and organizational
systems that have given us a direction over the millennia,
for the brotherhood (and sisterhood) and camaraderie that
have helped us come closer together.
Religion
also adds a third dimension in our modes of thinking. It is
quite natural for us humans to desire escape and fantasy.
Components of this particular fantasy come around annually
in the western world and thanks to electronic methods of communication
(and marketing expenditures) everyone today celebrates Christmas
and the New Year in some form or another.
Leaving
religion aside, the month of December could be christened
the gathering month for all of the sparkle that it brings.
It's time to put ills aside and share happy moments with family
and loved ones. Life is too short, and it must be enjoyed
in as many ways as possible. The challenge is to sift through
all the marketing clutter and figure out what is good for
you. Education is key. How do you figure out what
will make you happy and healthy? How can you plan a perfect
dinner, buy a good bottle of Champagne, find a restaurant
to host you for this special meal? We want to share with you
our years of experience in our domain of food, wine and travel
and help you in answering all these questions.
We
also want to remind you that you are what you eat and keep
you in good health for years to come. The calories consumed
between Thanksgiving and New Year's alone can result in a
five to seven pound weight gain. With this in mind, have that
glass of Champagne, that truffle and bite of foie gras, but
remember to exercise regularly. Shrug at the elevator; do
a few stretches in the morningeven a short walk around
the block will help.
Keep
smiling and have a happy holiday season,
