This Downtown Delray Beach event is an open house for merchants and restaurants that will attract Super Bowl visitors and local residents to downtown Delray. This South Florida Super Bowl Host Committee event celebrates the nine past champions crowned in South Florida, while creating a visual bridge uniting the games played first at the Orange Bowl and now at Dolphin Stadium. Recycled steel is also used to create nine one-of-a-kind sculptures representing past champions along with the two conference champions, one of whom will join the great champions of past South Florida Super Bowls. Gerdau Ameristeel is providing recycled steel for the project that includes a large structure which will span South Beach's famed Ocean Drive along with 11 smaller structures that will be displayed on the Lummis Park side of the street. From 6 p.m. to midnight, Ponce Circle Park in Downtown Coral Gables will be filled with activities and entertainment, as well as art, sports celebrities and Super Bowl-themed activities. Local businesses take it to the street with this extreme tailgating event in downtown Hollywood. Visitors will sample food from local restaurants and vote on their best tailgating experiences. Adding to the excitement will be several NFL cheerleading teams, and current and alumni NFL players who will be available for autograph signing at various locations during the day. Hollywood Boulevard will be transformed into a pedestrian tailgating challenge between the American Football Conference (AFC) and the National Football Conference (NFC), with tailgating packages to be raffled off. This prestigious high-profile fishing tournament will feature legendary and current pro athletes and celebrities, all for a good cause. Proceeds will go to the families of Marquis Cooper, Corey Smith, William Bleakley and Nick Schuyler whom were involved in a tragic boating accident in Tampa. The kickoff event will be held on February 1 from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. at the IGFA Fishing Hall of Fame, and will include a captain's meeting, final registration, silent and live Auctions and a video tribute to the boating accident victims. The event is open to all ages and will include divisions for ladies and juniors. A who’s who of entertainment will face off in a no-holds-barred flag football game, going head-to-head in front of millions of viewers. One of Super Bowl weekend’s hottest tickets, the Beach Bowl will take place from 12:30 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. right on South Beach, with festivities starting at 1:30 p.m. and kickoff at 2:30 p.m.; Immediately following the game and trophy presentation, a post-game concert by the All-American Rejects will fill the beach with fans for an unforgettable performance.
