Talk about a rich history. This hotel once served as temporary housing for survivors of the Titanic, and then as a flophouse for junkies. Today, the nautical-themed hotel straddling the West Village and the Meatpacking District has a very high cool quotient. Rooms are small (even by typical NYC standards) but The Jane makes up for this lack of space by packing in perks such as free Wi-Fi, cable TV, DVD players and iPod docks. The lively house restaurant, Café Gitane, serves a well-rounded menu with French, Greek, Egyptian and all-American flavors.
