If you have a fear of heights, you may want to cut the Fannaråkhytta cabin out of your round-the-world itinerary. This former weather station in Norway is situated on the edge of the Fannarak glacier, at an elevation of 6,784 feet. It's the perfect base from which to explore Jotunheimen National Park and the surrounding glaciers and lakes. Because it's a four-hour hike to the cabin no matter which direction you come from, this destination is not for the faint of heart. But if you make it, you'll be rewarded with a full three-course dinner before tucking into your sleeping bag for a well-deserved slumber, followed by a magnificent mountaintop sunrise.
