GAYOT's ranking of the décor, service, amenities and ambience of each hotel is expressed in stars, from one to five. The number of stars accompanying each review indicates the hotel's ranking according to the following system:


Pure luxury: As good as it gets; where to stay if money is no object and you demand perfection. Among the very best hotels in the world.
Everything you need and more: Excellent rooms, amenities and service—with style.
Very comfortable: Good rooms, amenities and service; you can't complain.
Comfortable: Adequate rooms, pleasant service and some amenities.
Just the basics: A clean room and private bath, and that's about it.
