 60 Thompson Hotel Review: This small hotel exemplifies the chic side of the SoHo District. With its huge street-facing windows, low-rise sofas, soft lighting and piped-in ambient music, the second-floor lounge-like lobby is a great place to people watch. The bored-looking, black-clad front desk staff is coolly professional to the point of being aloof. Designed by Thomas O'Brien of Aero Studios, the 100 guest rooms and suites are decidedly Euroed out. Dark wooden headboards rest against leather wall paneling. The bathrooms boast black-and-white veined tile. All rooms are equipped with a DVD player, CD stereo system and plush robes. Some of the suites have access to the rooftop garden, which has stunning 360-degree views of the city. The hotel's seductive Thai restaurant, Kittichai, is a SoHo hotspot, as is the discreet Thom Bar on the second floor. The rooftop space, A60, is open only to members and hotel guests. |
