Agave Inn Hotel Review: Mexican pop meets modern at this hip inn. With only thirteen rooms and a somewhat obscure location --- on Upper State Street, several miles north of downtown Santa Barbara --- it offers a notable asset: quiet. Style, though, is the main draw. Bright and arty, with contemporary color schemes and mod furnishings, all of the rooms have flat screen TVs, iPod docks, refrigerators and microwaves. A few of them also feature full kitchens and pullout sofa beds. Popular with youthful travelers, the inn offers bicycles on a first-come, first-serve basis at its sister property, the equally stylized Presidio Motel, located nearby. The Municipal Golf Course and several local-favorite restaurants are within walking distance. Downtown’s bars, eateries, theaters and nightclubs are easily reached via taxi or a 25-cent trolley ride. Rooms are well kept, and the service is warm and personal.
