Ann Starrett Mansion Hotel Review

: When prominent Washington contractor George E. Starrett wanted to express his love for his bride, Ann, in 1899, he built her a Queen Anne mansion. Today this building has been repurposed as an eight-room inn that showcases its original charm with features such as a solar calendar housed within a tower and accessed by a 70-foot, three-tiered spiral staircase. The mansion’s walls are covered in frescoes of maidens and angels painted in Ann’s image; as well, moldings and American antiques enhance the house’s historic ambience. The inn has been welcoming guests to the Olympic Peninsula since 1986 and features three floors of well-appointed rooms and suites outfitted with antique furniture and Victorian-era décor. Guests who stay here enjoy private bathrooms --- some with claw-foot tubs --- and views of the Puget Sound shipping lanes, Mt. Baker and the Cascade Mountains. Although the innkeepers maintain a Victorian atmosphere, modern perks include Wi-Fi access, TVs and in-room coffee pots. The inn features a variety of common areas where guests can unwind and relax, including a comfortable parlor and sitting room ideal for enjoying afternoon drinks or curling up with a good book. A dining room is available for events. The inn's location is central in Port Townsend’s uptown historic district, just a short walk to Pacific Northwest seafood restaurants, a seasonal farmers market and artisan shops.
