Ayres Hotel Anaheim Review: Positioned on the border of Anaheim and Orange and across from the Honda Center sports complex, this moderately priced hotel is in keeping with the make-believe tone of the neighborhood. It welcomes guests with a European theme that almost makes the grade when it comes to authenticity. The hotel is in close proximity to Disneyland, but far away enough to have its own distinctive, gimmick-free personality. Modeled after some of the world's finest hotels, this low-rent mimic greets guests with fresh fruit and cookies, Queen Anne mahogany furnishings, a dramatic fireplace that's kept burning year-round and Italian oil paintings in its cozy lobby. This ode to the Continent continues into the guest rooms, which are adorned with huge poster headboards and ornamental window treatments. The hotel does sprinkle modern touches amongst the old-school vibe of the rooms with 32-inch flat-screen TVs and complimentary Wi-Fi.
