Casa Via Mar Inn and Tennis Club Hotel Review: For travelers on a strict budget, this Mission-style motor court with arched doorways and flowering trellises is a real find. True, much of the old-fashioned motel's interior décor screams of the 1970s, but the rooms are spacious. All have cable TV and VCRs, with free movies to borrow from the front desk. Local telephone calls are also free. Some of the units have kitchenettes for just a few dollars more, while others have balconies and patios alongside the motel's exterior corridors. Unfortunately, none of the units has air-conditioning. Expect some traffic noise, too; request an upper-story room. Although the motel has some long-term guests, the grounds are secure after dark. The biggest bonus is access to six championship tennis courts, a heated outdoor pool, and whirlpool spa. A hot continental breakfast is included in the rates, and there are outdoor barbecue grills. There's also reasonably quick access to the freeway and the coast, including the harbor for trips to Channel Islands National Park.
