THIS ESTABLISHMENT IS CLOSED Chalet Suzanne Country Inn Hotel Review: Since 1931, family-owned Chalet Suzanne has been a favored destination of celebrities and dignitaries, newlyweds and vacationers intent on finding a quiet alternative to the bustle of Central Florida's theme parks. Once a private estate, located 150 miles south of Orlando, guests may not consider it a modern day resort but many return to the inn to experience unrushed, old world Florida. Complete with meandering wildlife and buildings laid out in a somewhat unconventional fashion of courtyards, gardens and brick pathways, the inn is one of Florida’s most romantic and remains much as it did when it opened. Revered by both epicureans and wine enthusiasts, the inn's fare is also popular with locals who come to dine in one of the five intimate dining rooms each overlooking a lake. Twenty-eight uniquely different guestrooms furnished with family antiques have private baths, some with Jacuzzi tubs and private courtyards. Amenities are limited but include a bar, pool, 100 hilly acres to explore, a ceramics shop and soup cannery where guests can purchase a set of the inn's soup dishes and the soup itself. The inn’s famous "Moon Soup" was duly named by the National Air and Space Museum after the fare was included on an Apollo mission. There’s a private airstrip on-site. A full country breakfast is included in the rate.
