Chateau du Sureau Hotel Review: This tasteful property began its life as the renowned restaurant Erna's Elderberry House in 1984. With visions of grandeur, Erna Kubin-Clanin then designed her magnificent château, complete with Parisian balconies and a stone turret. Since 1991, this castle-like refuge has been welcoming overnight guests. It is just fifteen minutes from Yosemite National Park, which means its setting is as magnificent as its architecture. The château itself features ten rooms, with additional accommodations offered in the lavish private Villa Sureau. In both buildings, Old World décor includes antique furniture, goose-down bedding and views of the woods. Guests can luxuriate beside the floor-to-ceiling fireplace in the Grand Salon, or take a leisurely stroll through the fragrant gardens. Also, all guests receive complimentary breakfast. The Spa du Sureau offers a variety of treatments, including massages, facials and more. The restaurant also hosts a cooking school, and guests are welcome to participate if space is available.
