The Clinton Hotel & Spa Review: This boutique hotel sits in the heart of the South Beach action and is decorated accordingly. Many of its 88 ultracontemporary guest rooms and suites overlook a tranquil reflecting pool and fountain, while others gaze onto the always-happening pool area. Still others have spa tubs that sit on private balconies. The lighting in the rooms, elevators and cool-blue lobby is dim and recessed, the better to keep guests in the party mood. The lobby, with its overstuffed airport-style loveseats and reception desk orchids, is worth a visit for the décor alone. On-site X/O Restaurant, Cafe, Bar & Lounge serves a varied American and Mediterranean menu. The Purple Room Spa is a modest option for massages and other body treatments. Although there is technically a swimming pool on the property, don't expect to do any Olympics-worthy laps in it --- it's remarkably small. Guest room amenities include CD libraries and CD players, high-speed Internet access (in some rooms), flat screen TVs, mini-bars and robes. The trick, however, is to specify upfront exactly what you expect in your room, as they all don't come with the same extras. The rooms facing the pool tend to be somewhat nicer; they're also noisier.
