Crowne Plaza San Diego Hotel Review: Budget chain hotels can be hit or miss. Some are downright terrible, while others surprise with their uniqueness and value. This Crowne Plaza belongs to the latter category. Located conveniently just off the I-5 and I-8 interchange in Mission Valley, this well-kept hotel has a pleasant resort vibe, with gardens, waterfalls, palms, lagoons and a heated outdoor pool. Guest rooms (including fourteen suites) are done in traditional style and feature private patios or balconies, ergonomic work stations, high-speed Internet for a fee and free HBO. Dining options range from California casual at The Islands Restaurant to sports bar fare at The Islands Sushi and PuPu Bar. The hotel offers massage and spa treatments, a 24-hour business center, catering and banquet services and more than 30,000 square feet of flexible meeting and event space, including two large ballrooms and an executive boardroom. Golfers will be pleased to find the Ted Robinson, Sr.-designed RiverWalk Golf Course right next door.
