Crystal Lake Resort Bed & Breakfast Hotel Review: Established in 1872, this place originally served as an ice-production facility in the winter and a resort in the summer. The 200-acre property is now a popular wedding and honeymoon destination. Trophy trout fishing on the private, 10-acre lake draws anglers from nearby Denver, less than an hour away. Guests also enjoy hiking, horseback riding and mountain biking. All of the seven unique rooms have log beds, private baths, fireplaces, satellite TV and VCRs. Families usually book the Rainbow Room (closest to the lake) and the adjoining Buckaroo Room with its log bunk beds and cowboys-and-Indians theme. The Train Whistle Room, decorated with railroad memorabilia, was originally one of the bunkhouses for the ice workers. Hearty breakfasts---including the likes of smoked trout eggs Benedict and oven-roasted bacon---are served in the antler-chandeliered breakfast room or al fresco on the lakeside deck.
