Dakota Lodge Hotel Review: This retreat is set on six country acres in the north woods of Minnesota. Its location near the St. Croix River and the Grand Casino Hinckley, just 90 minutes north of Minneapolis and St. Paul, makes it popular with city dwellers needing a weekend break. Rustic, log cabin-style exteriors belie the gracious, cozy interiors. Guests have the option of staying either in the lodge, the guesthouse or cabin. The lodge houses rooms named for obscure or defunct North Dakota towns---each had some personal significance to the original owners, who were from ND. Bedrooms here are adorned with antiques and such comfortable furnishings as overstuffed sofas and cozy bedding. In the guesthouse, you will enjoy the peace and quiet of a private North Woods hideaway. It is adjacent to the lodge and is a fully furnished home away from home with two bedrooms, a sofa sleeper in the living room, a single whirlpool tub, laundry facilities, central air and a three-season porch. The three-bedroom Kettle River Cabin is set on 16 wooded acres on the bluffs of the Kettle River. It is ideal for families and small groups.
