Desert Hot Springs Spa Hotel Review: Probably the most democratic spa hotel in the Coachella Valley, this property is proof that a spa need not be chichi or cost a bundle. The 50 motel-style rooms host families and couples, young and old, Californians and visitors from just about every country you can imagine. Bedrooms are pretty basic, but do have amenities like fridges, and the mountain view rooms have balconies overlooking the San Jacintos. The main attraction, of course, is the octet of pools, including a large circular one, positioned around a very large central courtyard. The Sunshine Cafe offers indoor and outdoor dining as well as room service delivery. The Sports Lounge televises major games and sporting events, with a lounge offering live entertainment. Day visitors can use the spa facilities for a bargain-basement price of $3-$7, depending on the day.
