Desert Star Hotel Review: Unlike at most hotel properties, the studio apartments at the Desert Star are individually-owned units, making each one unique and different. With a maximum capacity of just two guests each, these cozy mid-century sanctuaries offer approximately 625 square feet with streamlined contemporary furnishings and amenities such as fully equipped kitchens, private patios, DVD/CD players, iPod adapters and Wi-Fi accessibility. The hotel was designed in 1956 by Howard Lapham, the noted architect responsible for many homes for the rich and famous, including that of Debbie Reynolds. Guests can relax by the pool, socialize during the weekend cocktail hour and cycle around on one of the hotel's bikes for a well-rounded Palm Springs escape.
