The Drake Hotel Review: With sweeping views of Lake Michigan, this handsome hotel is an historic landmark that was built in 1920. It has hosted princes and politicians, film stars and financiers during its distinguished history. It is located within one block of the John Hancock Center and Water Tower Place and is walking distance to Oak Street Beach, Navy Pier and several area businesses. All of the 540 rooms, including suites, Executive Floor accommodations and standard guest rooms, were renovated in 2010. Ask for one with a lakeside view. Amenities include daily newspapers and in-house movies. Guests staying in the executive suites can enjoy fruit and chocolates at turndown. Translators are among the business perks. The public spaces are beautifully done and include four good dining venues: The Cape Cod Room, The Drake Brothers, Coq D'or and The Palm Court. If you're too beat to stand, sofas adorn the elevators.
