THIS ESTABLISHMENT HAS BECOME THE PERRY SOUTH BEACH Gansevoort Miami Beach Hotel Review: This hotspot at the northern end of South Beach follows in the steps of its New York sister hotel as the favored stop-off for the hip, discriminating international traveler. With a major expansion on the site of the landmark Roney Plaza, the original classic Art Deco building has been entirely redesigned around a multi-level private beach club that anchors the property and serves as its centerpiece. The Nikki Beach-inspired decor relies on shades of rich chocolate brown, deep royal blue and pure white, while furnishings and fabrics evoke a contemporary tropical style. On the main level, a 55,000-square-foot semi-circular oceanfront pool deck is bordered by an expansive bar and restaurant overlooking an infinity edge pool; the private cabana level is a tranquil enclave, while the oceanfront beach level is home to the club's main bar, volleyball courts and a seating area with oversized lounges and cabanas. The guest rooms and suites blend the modern with the dramatic, with charcoal gray suede walls that form an understated backdrop for custom-designed tables, sofas, lounge chairs, oversized mirrors and polished wooden headboards. Color is used playfully with splashes of magenta and yellow complementing a range of textures, from wood to leather. Many units have large balconies with ocean, bay or city views. The 1930s and '40s pin-up-style photographs add a playful air to the spacious, light-filled rooms. Amenities include high definition LCD TVs and five-fixture bathrooms. Complimentary high-speed Internet access is available in each guest room, as well as Sony Dream System stereos with surround sound, iPod docks, cordless phones, multi-line telephones with voicemail and data-line capabilities, and direct DID and fax lines that accommodate laptops. Guest services includes 24-hour in-room dining and concierge, turndown service, same day laundry/valet and complimentary daily newspaper. Indoor facilities of note include a large fitness center and spa. After working out, replenish yourself at the trendsetting STK restaurant, which reinvents the traditional steakhouse for a new generation.
