The Fairmont Olympic Hotel Review: For a luxurious weekend getaway in Seattle, this Fairmont is a win-win choice. The Italian Renaissance building was constructed in the 1920s on the site of what had been the University of Washington's first building. Its ornate lobby features 30-foot-tall ceilings, plenty of seating for socializing and two large, curving staircases that open onto elegant meeting rooms (28,000 square feet of meeting space in all). The list of amenities and services is so extensive that it's impossible to do them justice. The 450 bright, elegant and spacious rooms feature antique furniture, original art, large closets, two or more phones and free high-speed Internet access. House restaurant The Georgian offers northwest cuisine with a French twist, afternoon tea and jazz on Friday and Saturday nights. On-site Shuckers is one of the oldest oyster bars in town, while The Terrace serves up excellent martinis. The hotel is located in the heart of the city, within walking distance to the waterfront and popular attractions such as the Pike Place Market.
