The Franciscan Inn Hotel Review: A Spanish-Mediterranean façade and willowy palm trees belie no-frills accommodations at this 53-room property. Rooms are comfortable enough but lack anything beyond basic amenities. To be sure, this is no luxury resort. Which isn’t to say it is a place to be avoided; just keep your expectations in check. Rooms range from somewhat cramped singles with one queen bed to a variety of more spacious balcony rooms and suites. A pleasant staff will work with your budget to find the best option. While the waterfront is only one city block away, the nearest beach is adjacent to the harbor and not particularly inviting. (Cleaner stretches of sand are located west of the harbor and east of Stearns Wharf.) Continental breakfast, free wireless Internet and on-site laundry are among the inn’s perks. The Santa Barbara Suite features cathedral ceilings, multiple televisions and a refrigerator; others, such as the Manager’s Suite, have full-service kitchens and come fully stocked with cookware and dishes.
