The Godfrey Hotel Chicago Review: Because the buildings in Chicago’s River North neighborhood are filled with cutting-edge art and design, including hip lighting, furniture and textiles, this hotel is perfectly suited to its surroundings. Celebrated for its unique architecture, it’s best described as “distinctive,” both inside and out. Outside because of its cubist exterior, reminiscent of a game of Jenga, and inside because of its design, which includes bright colors, sculptural lighting and geometric furnishings that reflect perfectly the contemporary chic for which River North is known. Of course, the hotel isn’t just pleasant to look at. It it's also be a pleasant place to stay thanks to its (forthcoming) chef-driven restaurant, spa and 24-hour fitness center, not to mention its 12,000-square-foot indoor/outdoor rooftop lounge and conference space, which is punctuated with water features, fire pits and greenery. Nearby are scores of restaurants, shops and galleries, plus all of Chicago’s most popular attractions, including Navy Pier, Michigan Avenue and Willis Tower (although its unique combination of style and service might persuade you to spend more time at the hotel than away from it).
