 Golden Nugget Hotel & Casino Review: This upscale downtown property is one of Glitter Gulch's most glamorous destination, standing out from its neighboring casinos. It exudes Victorian-era, European charm with its Italian marble exterior and lots of twinkling lights, plus indoor Grecian marble and crystal chandeliers. It's in the heart of the razzmatazz Fremont Street Experience, so when the light shows end, be prepared to wait in a long line to enter the resort's lavish buffet. The three towers' 1,907 luxurious rooms feature sitting areas, rich fabrics, armoires with cable TV, full-sized desks and marble bathrooms with lighted makeup mirrors. The rooms in the Rush Tower are a better choice for those who prefer a more modern style of accommodation. These rooms are outfitted with contemporary furnishings and upgraded amenities such as iPod docking systems and plasma TVs. Inspired by New York City's Frick Museum Garden Room, the gorgeous state-of-the-art Spa and Salon offers an array of royal treatments and sophisticated exercise equipment. Among fine dining options are the Texas transplant, Vic & Anthony’s Steakhouse, and a taste of Asia from Lillie’s Noodle House. A $100 million renovation completed in 2006 resulted in the addition of a VIP room, keno lounge and a high-limit salon to the casino, but the most exciting addition isn’t on the gambling floors at all. The $20 million expansion of the pool produced The Tank, an innovative aquatic experience that allows guest to slide through the shark aquarium into the main pool. |
