Hilton Palacio del Rio Hotel Review

: This iconic hotel was constructed for HemisFair ’68 in a remarkable 202 days --- it was assembled like building blocks from units that had been prepared off-site. But haste, in this case, didn’t mean sacrificing quality. Today this elegant hotel sits right in the heart of the River Walk and just steps from the Convention Center and HemisFair Plaza. While it’s a favorite with meeting and convention attendees, is has the relaxing atmosphere of a leisure holiday hotel. In 2012 the property completed a $34 million makeover that saw the renovation of all 485 guest rooms and featured the debut of a Presidential Suite. The upgrades included spacious bathrooms with wood floors, granite counter-tops and mosaic tiled walls. Local artwork and hand-carved headboards enhanced the artisan feel of the rooms. Hallways were redesigned with light sconces, fabrics and photography celebrating San Antonio, and the 27,000 square feet of meeting and event space was also renovated, with floor-to-ceiling windows installed in the Salon del Rey ballroom to maximize natural light. Technology upgrades included a state-of-the-art digital signage system, virtual concierge and new PORT Technology elevator system. A UPS Store opened on the lobby level.
