The Home Ranch Hotel Review: Down a long, private gravel road---far removed from nearby Steamboat Springs---sits a large, hand-hewn log lodge surrounded by guest cabins. The décor can best be described as Ralph Lauren meets Gustav Stickley. The cabins, individually furnished with antiques and Indian rugs, have hot tubs to work out the kinks after a day in the saddle. Rates include a variety of seasonal extras. Horsemanship is the focus of most stays here. Guests are assigned their own horse for the duration of their stay; they ride on the ranch or the adjacent one-million acre Routt National Forest. Evening meals are served family style. A full-time pastry chef bakes fresh bread and desserts every day. Each of the eight cabins and the six rooms in the lodge has magnificent views of mountains and meadows as far as the eye can see. Ask for Quickdraw with its log beams and lodge pole king-sized bed or Bonanza with its hand-carved king-sized bed.
