Hotel Palomar San Francisco Hotel Review: This Union Square boutique hotel brings whimsical flair to the circa-1908 building it inhabits. Accommodations showcase contemporary design, with leopard skin-patterned carpeting, animal-print fabrics and furnishings with clean, bold lines. Themed rooms include the René Magritte Suite, with a cloud-painted ceiling, and several rooms designed for tall guests with longer-than-average beds. The hotel lacks a swimming pool, but the in-room hot tubs are perfect for warming up after a night out in the foggy city. Guests are invited to attend a complimentary evening wine hour in the lobby (which boasts trippy M.C. Escher drawings); also gratis are bicycles for exploring the city. A recent renovation added a café to the already popular Fifth Floor restaurant.
