Hudson Hotel Review: After viewing the unassuming, minimalist façade of this Ian Schrager property, it’s hard to believe what lies inside. Bathed in soft yellow light, Philippe Starck’s design includes a glass-enclosed escalator that whisks visitors up to the airy, exposed-brick, atrium-like lobby. From there, guests can enjoy a cocktail in the outdoor town square with its 45-foot high trees. Or they can grab a drink and play billiards or settle in for a game of chess in the Library. This island within an island has everything you need, and then some. Among the hotel's many treats are a rooftop garden and private park. The business center is state-of-the-art, and the bar is space-age chic. Function rooms of almost every conceivable design accommodating up to 500 are situated on several floors, making the hotel ideal for weddings, corporate events and social gatherings. Most importantly, the 1,000 guest rooms, done with rich wood paneling and soft white linens, are comfortable and affordable.
