Hyatt Regency Atlanta Hotel Review

: When Atlanta architect John Portman designed this hotel, which opened in 1967, its iconic blue top and its atrium were global firsts. It claimed preeminence as the city’s tallest structure, but that position has long since been grabbed by others. Largely completed in December 2011, a $65 million refurbishment project was five years in the planning. The three guest room towers with their 1,260 rooms (including 58 suites) and meeting spaces, as well as the lobby, have all undergone transformation. Twenty-four rooms are ADA accessible. Restyled, studio-chic guest rooms match the urban exterior of this contemporary hotel, and all offer high-speed Internet access, oversized work desks, deluxe baths and Hyatt Grand beds. Private in-room yoga sessions are available, and in-room massages may be arranged from an outside source, while the "Stay Fit" gym is conveniently open 24 hours a day. Unwind on the sun deck next to the outdoor pool, enjoy a drink from the lobby level 22 Stories bar --- so named because the hotel is 22 stories tall --- or visit the popular Sway (also lobby level), serving breakfast, lunch and dinner. In June 2014 the blue-domed Polaris lounge, which rotates 360 degrees for an ever-changing skyline view, re-opened (after being closed for a decade) following a beautiful renovation. Within walking distance are numerous downtown attractions such as the Georgia Aquarium and the World of Coca-Cola; AmericasMart, also designed by Portman, is across the street, making the hotel an ideal when attending trade shows. Except for service animals, pets are not allowed.
