Inn at Northrup Station Hotel Review: You'd be hard-pressed to find a more design-conscious sleeping establishment in all of Portland. Local architect Steve Routon has created a sleek, stylized monument to the modern vibe of the trendy Third Avenue neighborhood. While this establishment has an exclusive feel, it is actually quite casual and accessible. Think San Francisco boutique hotel. Added bonus: it's located near some of Portland's best restaurants and shopping, not to mention a streetcar that will whisk you through the arty Pearl District on the way to downtown. The impressive façade is made of brick and industrial materials. Inside, the rooms are filled with energetic colors and touches of granite and marble. All the units are suites, fabulously decorated with a contemporary flair. Full kitchens and wet bars make some rooms of this hip hangout homey. The sleek breakfast bar is a civilized spot to start the day, and the rooftop garden is a pleasant place to whittle away a warm evening.
