King William Manor Hotel Review: The picturesque King William district is the home of this historic two-structure compound. The main house was built in 1892 and the guest house added in 1901, both surrounded by an acre of manicured lawns and gardens. Lovingly restored in the 1990s, the manor has nine spacious guest rooms featuring clean, simple décor, with themes like the colorful Villa room with saltillo floors and hand-painted tiles, and the Plantation room, reminiscent of the deep South. Some rooms have fireplaces and Jacuzzi tubs; all have free Wi-Fi, refrigerators and ceiling fans. The two-bedroom, two-bath guest house sleeps six and has a full kitchen and washer/dryer. Weddings and special events are held in either the courtyard/pool area or on the large stone patio. Breakfast is a real treat next door at The Liberty Bar, one of the city's most popular venues (guests can opt out of breakfast for a ten percent room discount). The manor's location in Southtown makes it ideal for exploring the edgy, Bohemian-style neighborhood just south of downtown with its eclectic mix of shopping, dining and galleries. Art lovers shouldn't miss the nearby Blue Star Arts Complex. River Walk access is two blocks away, with another ten-minute walk to the central downtown district. Pets are not allowed, and smoking is forbidden indoors.
