 The Langham Huntington, Pasadena Hotel Review: Ideally located at the base of the San Gabriel mountains and convenient to downtown Los Angeles and the Valley, this historic 1907 property was restored to its turn-of-the-century grandeur in 1991, after languishing for several years due to earthquake damage. Personal and professional service are a hallmark here. Guest rooms are decorated in a traditional style with large mirrors, windows that open and cushy beds with fine linens. They also feature flat-screen TVs, oversized closets, marble bathrooms with top-quality toiletries, three telephones with voice mail, work desks and more. The Langham Club Lounge on the eighth floor further pampers guests with such extras as a personal concierge and five complimentary food and beverage presentations daily. For evening dining, The Royce (named after the hotel's longtime owner and general manager) serves New American cuisine by Chef David Féau. Open for breakfast, lunch and dinner, The Terrace offers contemporary Mediterranean-influenced California cuisine in a relaxed, open setting. A favorite with locals, traditional afternoon tea is presented in The Lobby Lounge. With a variety of treatments including those based on traditional Chinese medicine, the spa is another of the hotel's amenities that draws locals. On-site there are three tennis courts complete with a pro, and the outdoor swimming pool (the first Olympic-size pool in California) is augmented with a whirlpool and sun deck. Over 30,000 square feet of indoor and outdoor event space, including two gilded grand ballrooms, is available for conferences, business meetings, weddings and other social events. |
