Longman & Eagle Hotel Review: Visitors to Chicago who choose to book one of six trendy rooms at Longman & Eagle will enjoy the hotel’s urban atmosphere, as well as the many amenities the casual-but-hip establishment provides. Each of the rooms features modern décor enhanced by extras such as HD LCD TVs equipped with Apple TV (includes radio, Netflix, YouTube and rentals in the iTunes store), vintage Fisher Price or Sony cassette tape consoles with mix tapes, furniture designed by Robert McAdams and Jon Martin of Mode Carpentry, and complimentary wireless Internet access. The rooms also feature site-specific artwork, such as a large wall installation by Nick Butcher and Nadine Nakanishi, a speaker sculpture by Juan Angel Chavez and mixed-media pieces by Margaret Durow and Stephen Eichhorn. Foodies will enjoy the house restaurant, where chef Jared Wentworth’s constantly changing menu focuses on regional American fare crafted from local ingredients. The hotel’s self-proclaimed enthusiasm for drinking is evident at the Longman & Eagle bar, where the philosophy “whiskey for your mouth, not for our shelves” rings true with the stock of 38 various whiskeys available for $3 a shot --- making it easy for guests to sample more than just a few. Additional offerings in this casual and friendly atmosphere include bottled and draft beers, seasonal craft cocktails and eclectic spirits.
